Basketball Court Mary Well Be Draw for Sales at 99 Gold in Vinegar Hill
John Starks to Lead Pickup Games, Sign Commemorative Basketballs
VINEGAR HILL – Former New York Knicks player John Starks could well be a draw for the June 8 grand opening celebration at 99 Gold St., a residential condominium conversion nearing completion in Vinegar Hill. Starks will be leading pick-up games, teaching skills to bystanders and signing commemorative “gold” basketballs at the event, scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. at 99 Gold, between Front and Gold Streets. Sales are also kicking off at tonight’s event, according to Highlyann Krasnow, executive vice president of The Developers Group, which is handling sales and marketing for the project. “Vinegar Hill, known for its cobblestone streets and proximity to trendy DUMBO, is about to morph into a new locale with ‘buzz’,” said Krasnow.
The six-story, 100,000-square-foot former toy factory (circa 1919) is being transformed into 88 residences, ranging in size from 672-square-foot studios to 1,336-square-foot two bedroom penthouses with private terraces. Five of the units will be duplex apartments, ranging in size from 1,200 square feet to 1,550 square feet. Prices are starting at approximately $370,000, according to Krasnow. The development, scheduled for occupancy in the fall 2006 is a project of HK Real Estate, with design by Scarano Architects along with interiors designer Andres Escobar. The units will feature high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, open layouts, custom kitchens and baths. Most will have private outdoor spaces with views of the Manhattan skyline. In addition to the indoor basketball court and its adjacent viewing lounge, the building also has a “Sky Lounge” roof deck and an on-site parking garage.
